Aldingbourne Community Sports Centre Development

July 2022

Dear Residents

THE Aldingbourne Parish Council and Aldingbourne Community Sports Centre Development Working Party continue in their quest to bring forward major improvements to the Olivers Meadow Complex.

Initial Surveys have been completed on drainage, asbestos, building conditions, topographical and electrical surveys of the site. These surveys are a major part of assessing the future need and the viability of these services to ascertain if they are suitable for a new development or will need either replacing or upgrading.

The community public survey which was delivered to all households in the parish produced a respectable number of responses and made for interesting reading, bringing forward good positive feedback. The information gleaned from the survey and a further meeting with the user groups of the Complex, provided the Architect with valuable information to bring forward a Draft Master Plan.

After widely advertising and invitations being sent out to Trustees, User Groups, Councillors, Local Schools, the public and other prominent organisations within the Parish, the turnout for the Councils Annual Parish Assembly was not unfortunately well attended. It not only provided an opportunity to find out how the re-development of the Aldingbourne Community Sports Centre is progressing but a chance to see the Artwork project that will be installed by the Parish in conjunction with the Arun District Council Artwork organisation.

Both the Artwork and the re-development projects were presented on the night and were warmly accepted by those present. The next steps are to conduct some minor improvements to the existing main building to assist in its life for a few years, whilst final plans and fund raising is carried out. A resume of the meeting will be posted to the Parish Council’s website and facebook page for all to read.

Finally, until our next bulletin, it will be a long road to conduct this ambitious project of re-development but will be a great asset to the community and its success can only be achieved with the help of all, not only Parish Councillors and Trustees, but also with you, the public’s, help. So, if you have skills that you think will be helpful, please get in touch and make it a real Community achievement.
