Aldingbourne in Bloom
Aldingbourne Parish Council is delighted to announce that it will be holding its Aldingbourne in Bloom Competition in 2026 again and hopes many residents will want to take part. We want to encourage people to make the most of their open space, no matter how small, and to increase biodiversity in the parish.
The competition is open to everyone who lives in the Parish of Aldingbourne. Details of the categories that you can enter are listed below.
DATES
- 1st April, the competition will be launched.
- All entries must be sent to the Clerk (via e-mail to clerk@aldingbourne-pc.gov.uk) or if you do not have access to e-mail by telephone to 07849 806955 by 26 June 2026 (midday), along with the following details:-
- Name of competitor.
- Age (if in the children’s category).
- Category or categories of entry.
- Address
- Contact Details, including e-mail and a mobile number.
- Judging will take place on Monday 6 July 2026 and photographs will be taken of your entry. Entrants do not need to be present when judging takes place.
- Successful entries will be contacted by Thursday 9 July 2026, and a Presentation Ceremony for Winners will take place at 10.30 am on Saturday 11 July 2026 at the Aldingbourne Community Sports Centre,
CATEGORIES
Judging will be based on the following categories, and entrants can ask to be considered in more than one category.
- Best front garden, visible from the public highway, including patios/terraces.
- Best window box, container or hanging basket, visible from the public highway.
- Best front garden, patio, terrace, border, window box, container or hanging basket planted and looked after by a young person aged 16 or under, visible from the public highway.
CRITERIA FOR SUCCESS
In addition to attractive displays, the parish council will also be looking for pollinator-friendly and sustainable gardens.
JUDGES
The following have been asked to be on the judging panel:
- Gwendolyn van Paasschen and Mike Palmer, owners of Denmans Garden (TBC).
- Representatives from the parish council.
- Representative from Aldingbourne Primary School.
PRIZES
- Best Front garden, garden centre vouchers plus free entry for two to Denmans Garden, by kind permission of the owners (TBC).
- Other category winners: garden centre vouchers.
- Certificates for each category winner and runner-up.

- The judges’ decision is final
