It was good for the communities of Aldingbourne, Barnham and Eastergate to once again come together at the Memorial Cross, to pay their respects to those who gave their lives for freedom.
Councillor Harbord laid a wreath on behalf of Aldingbourne Parish Council, together with the Chairman of Barnham & Eastergate Parish Council, District Councillor Hughes, Royal British Legion, Scouts, Guides and local organisations.
A large number of the Parishes residents came together to honour and respect the Silence at 11.00am, with local traffic coming to a standstill. Many people then went onto Eastergate Village Hall to enjoy a cup of tea, cake and were entertained by the local Community Choir. A Commemorative video was played for the Legion’s 100th birthday this year, led by Jean Rogers.
This year the Remembrance was significantly poignant in relation to remembering those who have suffered with the recent pandemic.
Councillors Foott and Blaylock attended St. Mary’s church Aldingbourne, and laid a wreath on behalf of the Parish Council.
