Given the choice, people overwhelmingly say they would prefer to die in their own home, or in a hospice, rather than a hospital. "I've seen the adverts on the TV about the work of Marie Curie, but I didn't realise exactly what Marie Curie did and to what extent they support families and their loved ones at end of life. It's like we don't know what to do when someone dies, and then wow Marie Curie was there to support us and do it for us. Not only taking away much of the stress but also reassuring to know that mum had the best care she could have because Marie Curie gave it to her." Mark Barnes, Next of Kin As experts in providing end of life care in the community, Marie Curie can help, but only if it continues to raise the donations it needs to fund its vital work. Marie Curie needs to raise £50,000 a week to continue to run its nursing care across the Southeast.
