Longfurlong road closed for emergency repairs - update 9th October 26

Following an update regarding the revised work timescale the Clerk contacted the WSCC Highways on 7 October 2026 requesting appropriate signage to be put in place as a matter of urgency for safety reasons and to alleviate the rat-running traffic. These are now in place.

WSCC Highways have advised that, whilst the damaged water main on A280 Long Furlong has now been repaired, the burst caused significant consequential damage, including damage to the carriageway and a West Sussex County Council surface water drain. These elements have yet to be repaired.

Given the extent of the excavations and repairs required, a completion date of 16 October 2026 is considered the most realistic estimate at this time.
